Abstract

Footwear companies are part of the manufacturing sector and it is one of the most traditional economic sectors at the national level; however, the sector has been evolving throughout the economic opening model that has marked the trend in this sector towards the establishment of actions to increase the level of exports of the country's companies. The objective of this article is to provide information about the SMEs, especially in the footwear sector in Colombia, their organizational capacities and the obstacles that the companies have had to be able to export. It also covered the strategies established by some authors of the academic literature related to the sector for companies to strengthen their internal processes according to the current international context. The methodology used for the construction of the article was based on the content analysis of bibliography published in international databases such as Dialnet, Redalyc, Scielo, Science Direct and Institutional Repositories of Higher Education.
