Optimization through Polynomial Regression of the Liquid Yield from Pyrolysis of Plastic Waste Collected in Norte de Santander
Optimización mediante regresión polinomial del rendimiento líquido de la pirólisis de residuos plásticos recolectados en Norte de Santander
Main Article Content
The mass use of plastic has caused various problems, among the most notable are atmospheric pollution and the increase of greenhouse gases. However, despite some measures being implemented in Colombia to counteract the use of single-use plastics and ensure the proper recycling of these wastes, there are still improperly disposed wastes. One alternative for the proper treatment is the thermal pyrolysis of these wastes, which allows the production of high-value liquid products with calorific potential that can be used in incinerators or as a base for obtaining fuels that can diversify the energy mix of our country. This work presents the mathematical optimization of the pyrolysis yield of a random mixture of plastics available in Norte de Santander, with the independent variables being the heating rate and the pyrolysis temperature in a semi-batch reactor. The obtained results show an 100% adjustment in the coefficient of determination, which allows the hypothesis of predicting the liquid yield to be verified. This, in turn, optimizes the appropriate reaction conditions, experimentally validating the behavior and finding an experimental error of 2.04% compared to the theoretical.
