Abstract

The Nursing Program of the Universidad Francisco de Paula Santander (UFPS) celebrates 50 years of creation; celebrating a new anniversary is a reason for pride, reflection and recognition of the path taken, which has allowed the positioning of the program and its graduates at regional, national and international levels.


The achievements and progress of the program began since the Universidad Francisco de Paula Santander under the rectorship of Dr. José Luis Acero Jordán (QEP). José Luis Acero Jordán (QEPD), through previous analysis and study of the different health sectors in Norte de Santander, thought it convenient to guide through the Development Plan 1969 - 1971 the creation of a career in the area of health; considering Nursing as a pressing need, in the context of the growth of the Health Service Providers Institutions, such as the former Social Security Clinic, San Antonio Clinic, Amelia Hospital, San Juan de Dios Hospital and the existing health posts, which served the population of the department of Norte de Santander.
