Abstract

An inclusive school is an educational model that seeks to guarantee access, participation, and learning for all students, regardless of their individual, social, or cultural background. This model is based on the principle of equity, which implies that all students have the right to receive a quality education tailored to their needs. In Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico, an inclusive school has become a priority for educational authorities. In recent years, various actions have been implemented to promote inclusion in schools, such as teacher training, the creation of adapted educational materials, and raising awareness among the educational community. However, much remains to be done to guarantee an inclusive school in Ciudad Juárez. This essay will reflect on classroom spaces as a key factor for educational inclusion in public universities and the progress made in this area, while also exploring the opportunities and challenges it currently presents for this vulnerable population. By exploring the various national and international laws and recommendations, as well as reviewing the classroom spaces in the infrastructure of these universities in the city, with the aim of documenting the progress and opportunities that are pending in them, based on qualitative observational research and using a layer audit evaluation instrument, the aim is to see the existing opportunities with the aim of making these visible to the governing bodies of these universities.
