Abstract

Background: The incorporation of a gender perspective is one of the axes that have been developed in recent years in the field of education. Objective: The purpose of this article is to analyze changes in article production over time on education and gender, specifically in Spanish and English sources, during the period 2012-2022. Methods: The methodological approach used is mixed, the study consists of a quantitative bibliometric analysis and a qualitative content analysis. The bibliometric review involved an examination of the production and citation of other authors available in Scopus; this database helps to see aspects of volume, collaborations, citations in the area of gender gap and feminist pedagogy, and their impact on Mexican education. Results: The results reveal a substantial increase in research and article publications related to feminist pedagogical practices. The importance of integrating educational policies with a gender perspective to reduce gaps and position women in science, technology, and empowered spaces is emphasized. Conclusions: This study provides a more comprehensive picture of the current state of research on gender and education in the Spanish-speaking region and highlights the need to improve collaborative work to advance educational equity.
